Gurdeep Singh Puri is the founder of Access CFO and a Chartered Accountant with more than 28 years in senior finance roles at Indian media and technology groups including NDTV, TV18 and DEN Networks. His work has centred on capital markets and transactions — large initial public offerings, rights issues, fund-raising and M&A — and he now leads CFO engagements for businesses between ₹2 crore and ₹200 crore in revenue.
Background
Gurdeep spent most of his career inside fast-growing listed Indian companies during the period when Indian media consolidated — a stretch that produced an unusual density of transactions. He has taken companies to market through large IPOs, run rights issues, raised both equity and debt, and structured and executed acquisitions on both sides of the table.
At DEN Networks, TV18 and NDTV he worked through the full arc of corporate finance: building the reporting a listed board depends on, managing institutional investor relationships, negotiating with lenders, and holding the numbers together through periods of rapid expansion and equally rapid correction.
Why he started Access CFO
The pattern that led to the firm was one Gurdeep saw repeatedly among suppliers, partners and portfolio businesses: companies doing real revenue, run by capable founders, making decisions on numbers that arrived late and could not be trusted — not because anyone was careless, but because the seniority required to fix it costs more than the business can justify hiring.
Access CFO exists to break that trade-off. By sharing partner-level finance leadership across several companies and pairing it with a controller and an analyst, the same capability that a listed company employs full-time becomes affordable at ₹30 crore of revenue.
How he works with clients
Gurdeep personally leads the week-one diagnostic on new engagements and holds the CFO lead role on a number of them. His clients tend to be founder-run businesses in the middle of something consequential — a first institutional raise, a bank negotiation, a step change in scale, or a succession — where the value of the role is judgment under uncertainty rather than process.
A CFO earns their retainer on the days they disagree with you.
